Neff, Wayne R.

Wayne R. Neff, 92, of LaGrange, IN died August 9, 2019, at Miller’s Merry Manor in LaGrange, IN.
Mr. Neff was born on April 8, 1927, in LaGrange County, IN to Mahlon A. and Mary (Kauffman) Neff.
Living his lifetime in LaGrange County he was a farmer and had worked in the manufactured housing industry.
Mr. Neff a was member of the Shore Church in Shipshewana, Indiana, and was an avid woodworker. He was a volunteer for many years at LaGrange County Clothes and Food Basket, Men for Missions and Mennonite Disaster Services.
On March 12, 1949 in LaGrange, IN he married Helen C. Miller; Mrs. Neff survives in LaGrange, IN.
Also surviving are three daughters, Sherrill and Barry Sturgis of LaGrange, IN, Jean and Tim Bontreger of White Pigeon, MI, and Nancy and Dennis Funk of Greer, SC; four sons, Delmer and Barb Neff of Sturgis, MI, Robert and Michele Neff of LaGrange, IN, Richard and Kathy Neff of Rockwall, TX, and Keith and Jennifer Neff of Howe, IN; nineteen grandchildren; forty-five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Bernice Trieble of Elkhart, IN.
Mr. Neff was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Esther Zook, and four brothers, Devon, Vernon, Elmer and Ernest Neff.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 10:00 am at Shore Church, 7235 W, 100 N, Shipshewana, IN. The Rev. Carl Horner will officiate the services.
Burial will follow at Shore Cemetery in Shipshewana, IN.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from 4-8 pm at the church.
Newcomer, Arthur L., 81, of Bellefontaine, Logan Co., OH died June 15, 2019 at the same place. He was born August 18, 1937 in Manor Twp., _____ Co., PA to Norman and Ida (Leaman) Newcomer. On August 19, 1961 at Lansdale, PA he was married to Mary Rosenberger, who survives.
Surviving are children, Maria Gleason, and Sam (Ana) Newcomer; four grandchildren, two sisters, Elsie Charles, and Miriam (Jams) Haverstick, and a brother, Ed Newcomer.
A brother, Earl Newcomer preceded him in death.
Memorial services were held June 23, 2019 at Bethel Mennonite Church, West Liberty, Logan Co., OH.
Newswanger, David "Davey" H.
Myerstown - David "Davey" H. Newswanger, 92, went to his heavenly home on May 11, 2019. He was born in West Earl Township, PA, to the late Peter B Newswanger and Elizabeth N Hoover. Married to Esther Elizabeth "Betty" Hurst in 1946, they moved to a farm in Newmanstown, PA and were blessed with 7 children. Davey and Betty worshipped at Fair Haven Mennonite Church, Myerstown.
They moved to Womelsdorf PA in 1961, where Davey started a 20-year business with Curtis Breeding Service. When Betty passed away in 1980, Davey continued the Newswanger's Sausage business that Betty started, working there Friday's until he was 78. He was employed for 22 years at Farmer Boy AG in Myerstown and for Ivan Z. Martin Sr.
In 1985, Davey married the late Madlyn Sharpe. They spent their years traveling and spending time with friends and family, and continued to welcome 26 grandchildren, and 101 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Madlyn pre-deceased Davey in September 2018. They attended Mt Aetna Bible Church,
Davey is survived by his daughters and son; Esther and Harlan Martin, Barbara and Earl Martin, David Jr and Lisa Newswanger, Jane and Quentin Fultz, Joan Bowen and the late Stephen Bowen, Joyce and Glenn Weaver, and Janette and John Eberly.
David is also survived by his brother Adam and Elizabeth, of Denver PA, and pre-deceased brothers Peter, survived wife Pauline, John, and Luke, survived wife Marianna.
Funeral Services will be held at Mt. Aetna Bible Church, 11 N Chestnut, Mount Aetna, PA 19544 on Saturday May 18, 2019 at 2 PM, followed by internment at Myerstown Mennonite Church. A viewing will be held at Mt. Aetna Bible Church on Friday May 17, from 5-9pm, and from 1-2pm on Saturday prior to the service. Newswanger, G. Arlene Gehman
September 24, 1927 - March 31, 2019
G. Arlene Newswanger, 91, of Providence Place, Pine Grove, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Providence Place She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Born on September 24, 1927 in Schoeneck, Lancaster Co, she was a daughter of the late Eli and Elizabeth Martin Gehman and step daughter of the late Mary Musser Gehman.
Arlene and late husband Amos moved to Pine Grove from Stevens, Lancaster Co. in 1953 and farmed until 1970. She supported Amos in his bus business, and was instrumental in keeping all of the buses clean and ready for trips.
Arlene worked in the Pine Grove High School and Middle School cafeteria washing dishes for many years. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and sewing, but her first love was playing board games with her grandchildren.
Arlene and her late husband Amos were founding members of the Roedersville Mennonite Church, Pine Grove. She was active as a Sunday school teacher for many years, and was also involved in the church Sewing Circle.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 68 years Amos Newswanger, Jr.; grandson Matthew Newswanger; sister Lucile Gehman; brother, James Robert Gehman, a brother who passed in infancy.
Surviving are four sons, Barry and wife Kathie Newswanger, Jerry Newswanger, Clair and wife Debra Newswanger, all of Pine Grove, Fred and wife Megan Newswanger of Hyde Park, NY; daughter Linda and husband Carl Driedger of Willow St.; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two on the way.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the Schuylkill Church of the Brethren, 347 Sweet Arrow Lake Rd., Pine Grove with Pastor Daryl Martin officiating. There will be a viewing on Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the Church. Interment will follow in Roedersville Mennonite Cemetery, Pine Grove.

Nissley, Ira C.
Sept. 29, 1931 - Jan. 16, 2019
WILLIAMSBURG - Ira C. Nissley was born September 29, 1931 in rural Thomas, Oklahoma, the son of Chris and Sarah Ann (Yoder) Nissley. His family moved to Iowa when he was 12 years old living in the Kalona community.
On October 28, 1952 he was united in marriage to Arlene Schlabach at the Parnell Mennonite Church. The couple has lived in the Williamsburg community since 1956. Ira farmed, owned and operated Burg Auto and Nissley Welding. He will be remembered for his love of family and his pleasure in all things mechanical. The best challenge for him was a project that seemed too difficult to fix. He was a member of the West Union Mennonite Church.
Ira passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 87 years.
Ira is survived by his wife of 66 years Arlene of Williamsburg; 4 children: Darlene and Dale Chittick of Williamsburg, Keith and Gloria Nissley of Blounstown, FL; Brenda Nissley of Seattle, WA; Amy and Ardell Nissley Stauffer of Hesston, KS; 5 grandchildren: Carrie and Greg Dietze, Neal Chittick, Sarah Nissley, Max and Graham Stauffer; 5 great grandchildren: Camden, Ashley, Daniel, Hannah,Jenna; and 11 siblings: Leroy Nissley of Riverside, Lonnie Nissley of Blountstown, FL, Chris Nissley of Clarksville, FL, Ivan Nissley of Blountstown, FL, Mary Bell of Canyon Country, CA, Ann Hochstedler of Kalona, Heidi Smucker of Spring Mills, PA, Marie Detweiler of Tallahassee, FL, Pauline Miller of Craig, CO, Carolyn Yoder of Altha, FL, Treva Schrock of New Paris, IN; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers Nelson and John.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at the West Union Mennonite Church in rural Parnell. Pastor David Heusinkveld and Pastor Martha Yoder will officiate. Burial will be in the West Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-7 PM on Monday, January 21, 2019, at the West Union Mennonite Church where the family will greet friends from 2-4 and 5-7 PM. A memorial fund has been established for the West Union Mennonite Church. The Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg is caring for Ira and his family.
Nissley, Katie Yoder
November 25, 1933 - March 4, 2019
Katie Nissley, 85, of Wolcottville, died at 4:44 am on Monday, March 4, at her residence. She was born on November 25, 1933, in Loogootee, IN (Daviess County), to Amos and Emma (Graber) Yoder. On November 30, 1967, in LaGrange County, she married Leroy A. Nissley; he survives. They lived in matrimony for 51 years.
Survivors in addition to her husband are three daughters, Rebekah Nissley of Topeka, Rachel (LaVern) Miller of Middlebury, Ruth (Floyd) Mast of Howe; three sons, William (Mary Ann) Nissley of Wolcottville, John (Mary Kathryn) Nissley of Millersburg, Leroy, Jr. (Loranna) Nissley of Middlebury; 26 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Simon (Elsie) Yoder of Goshen, John (Lydia Mae) Yoder of FL; sister-in-law, Sarah Yoder of LaGrange; brother-in-law, Harvey Lambright of Topeka.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Ethan Mast; two sisters, Lena Shell and Fannie Lambright; seven brothers, Noah, David, Jacob, Cletus, Joseph, William, and Amos, Jr. Yoder. She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 5 and all day Wednesday, March 6 at the William Nissley residence, 5015 E. 450 South, Wolcottville. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Thursday, March 7, also at the William Nissley residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Wayne Slabach and the home ministers. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, LaGrange.

Noftsier, Rita L. Rassi, 67, of Goshen, Elkhart Co., IN died June 17, 2019 at the same place. She was born June 15, 1952 at Goshen to Lloyd and Dorothy (Haines) Rassi.
Surviving are her mother, a son, Romeyn A. (Rhonda) Noftsier of Lowville, NY, two sisters, Yvonne (Max) Mault of Goshen and Maureen (Bill) Cole of Indianapolis and a brother, Doug (Vicki) Rassi of Jeffersonville, IN.
Her father preceded her in death.
A 1970 graduate of Goshen High School, Rita went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Goshen College and a master's degree in Utica, New York, as a reading specialist.
Rita loved her work as a teacher and her students loved her

Nolt, Anna W. Sauder, 89, formerly of Annville, died Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at Fairmount Homes, Ephrata. Her husband, David M. Nolt, survives.
Born in Churchtown, she was the daughter of the late Christian W. and Rebecca B. (Weaver) Sauder.
Anna was a homemaker and a member of Mountain View Mennonite Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by eight sons: Harold married to Twila (Betsker) Nolt, East Earl, Glenn married to Rosa (Esbenshade) Nolt, Strasburg, Leonard married to Karen (Eby) Nolt, Lititz, Earl married to Tina (Buckwalter) Nolt, Leola, Mervin married to Carol (Smith) Nolt, Denver, Eli married to Darla (Zimmerman) Nolt, Annville, Barry married to Patty (Miller) Nolt, Middletown, Steven married to Julia (Weaver) Nolt, Newmanstown, 29 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and six siblings: Laura married to Melvin Weaver, Dorothy married to Irvin Martin, Arlene married to Edward Weaver, Minerva Lehman, Verna Pruchniewski, Earl married to Arlene (Martin) Sauder.
She was preceded in death by a brother Christian married to Anna Mary Sauder and three sisters: Esther married to Ivan Sensenig, Edna married to Elias Gingrich, and Rebecca married to Norman Seibel.

Nolt, David M., 90, formerly of Annville, a resident of Fairmount Homes, Ephrata, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2019.
He was the husband of the late Anna W. Sauder Nolt who died August 6, 2019. Born in Earl Twp, he was the son of the late Eli O. and Mattie Martin Nolt.
David was a retired farmer. He was a member of Mountain View Mennonite Church in Lebanon.

He was the husband of Martha W. Weaver Nolt. Born in New Holland, he was the son of the late Noah M. and Anna Barbara Sensenig Nolt. Marvin was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Fairmount Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.
Surviving besides his wife are four sons: Nelson husband of Velma Hurst Nolt of Drumore, Curvin husband of Ada Hoover Nolt of Hurdland, MO, Burnell husband of Mary Jane Burkholder Nolt of Peach Bottom, and Wilmer husband of Rosene Zimmerman Nolt of Peach Bottom; five daughters: Joanne wife of David Reiff of Loysville, Christine wife of Aaron Martin of Mohrsville, Karen wife of Gilbert Weaver of Carpenter, WY, Charlotte wife of Earl Lehman of Myerstown, and Virginia wife of Dean Zimmerman of Narvon; fifty-six grandchildren, seventy-five great-grandchildren; two brothers, David husband of Vera Nolt of Ephrata, and Willis husband of Margaret Nolt of Quarryville; three sisters, Marian wife of Ivan Hursh of Ephrata, Elva wife of Irvin Seibel of Paradise and Kathryn wife of Mervin Martin of Elizabethtown; and a sister-in-law, Anna Nolt of Peach bottom. Nolt, Mildred J. "Millie" Stauffer
Dec. 10, 1927 - Sept. 11, 2019
Millie (Mildred J.) Nolt of Lampeter was called to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the morning of Wednesday, September 11, 2019. More recently she resided at the United Zion Retirement Community in Lititz, PA. Millie and her late husband, Mike thoroughly enjoyed more than 70 years of marriage together after being wed in Mount Joy on February 22, 1947.
Millie was born in Earl Township on December 10, 1927 and was the youngest child of the late Barton and Estella (Zeamer) Stauffer. She is survived by three sons; Ron Nolt and wife, Marcia of Lancaster, Dr. Barry Nolt and wife, Judy of Bloomsburg, and Dr. Jeffrey Nolt and wife, Terri of Coudersport.The seven joys of her life were their grandchildren: Tammi, Natalie, Jason, Michael, Rebekah, Jeremy, and Katie (Peachey). Millie was predeceased by her sister, Helen Stauffer and brothers, Robert and Clyde Stauffer.
Millie was first and foremost a wife and a mother to 3 active sons and she still managed to hone her love of serving others with over 40 years of waitress work at Plain & Fancy Farm Restaurant in Bird-in-Hand. She and Mike were longtime members of the Neffsville Mennonite Church.
Christmas to Millie was the absolute best time of year and she made sure it was to everyone in her family and all others she met. She put much thought and months of preparation in making sure her family and especially her "Seven Joys" enjoyed this special time of year. From decorating the house to baking endless batches of homemade cookies for people she hardly knew she labored in love each and every year. The cookies were handed out in carefully chosen tins and there always seemed to plenty for all.
Her smile, sense of humor and endless energy stood out to all who met her. She always managed to somehow find something humorous in whatever ugly situation she or Mike found themselves in. In her world, there was always something that needed done or someone who needed to be served and she was always up to the task.
Millie's family would like to thank the caring staff at United Zion for all the love and professional care they extended to her during her time with them. They are truly to be commended for their excellent service and attention they gave to her.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Millie's Celebration of Life Funeral Service at Neffsville Mennonite Church, 2371 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Hunter Hess officiating. Nolt, Lena N. Zimmerman, 76, of Ephrata, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, November 2, 2019. She was married 56 years to John J. Nolt. Born in East Earl, she was the daughter of the late Adam S. and Margaret H. Newswanger Zimmerman. Lena was a homemaker and also operated Lena Nolt Weddings for over 50 years. She was a member of the Weaverland Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.
Surviving besides her husband is a daughter, Susanne Z. wife of Bishop Curvin Z. Zimmerman of New Holland; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Adam M. husband of Jerrene Seibel Zimmerman of New Holland; and a sister, Margaret Ann wife of Earl Ray Hursh of Middleburg. She was preceded in death by a brother, Luke N. Zimmerman and by a brother-in-law, John David Kurtz.

Nolt, Menno Z.
May 13, 1940 - November 20, 2019
Menno Z. Nolt, 79, of Leola, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at the home of Nelson and Mabel Nolt in Woodbury, PA.
Born in West Earl Twp., he was the son of the late Ammon and Emma (Zimmerman) Nolt. Menno was the husband of Lena (Horning) Nolt.
For approximately 47 years, Menno owned and operated Nolt Machine and Hydraulic in Leola. He was a member of the Groffdale Frame Mennonite Church (Groffdale Conference).
Surviving in addition to his wife, are four children, Esther Zimmerman, Isaac, husband of Eva Nolt, both of Leola, Mabel, wife of Nelson Nolt of Woodbury, John Aaron, husband of Esther Nolt of Everett; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Annie Nolt and Cora Nolt.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2019, from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the late residence, 220 Brethren Church Road, Leola Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 25, 2019, at 9:00 AM from the late residence with further services at 9:30 AM from the Groffdale Frame Mennonite Church, 90 Groffdale Church Road, Leola, with Bishop Amos R. Martin officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.

Nolt, Naomi H. Gehman, 84, of 90 Dietrich Road, Mifflinburg, entered into rest at 4:50 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2019, at her home in West Buffalo Township.
She was born Feb. 24, 1934, in West Earl Township, Lancaster County, a daughter of the late Peter H. and Elsie E. (Hursh) Gehman. On Dec. 12, 1957, in Berks County, she married Ivan S. Nolt, Sr. who preceded her in death on Feb. 11, 1999.
Naomi was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Mennonite Church, Millmont.
Surviving are two sons and three daughters-in-law, Harold G. and Lucy Nolt of Mifflinburg, Ivan S. Jr. and Jane Nolt of Mifflinburg, and Ruth Nolt of Reedsville; three daughters, Florence G. Nolt of Winfield, Lydia A. Nolt of Mifflinburg, and Mary K. Nolt of Mifflinburg; two brothers, Henry and Eli Gehman; one sister, Rachel Zimmerman; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Harvey Nolt; three brothers; three sisters; and five grandchildren.
Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Nolt residence, 90 Dietrich Road, Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be held at 8:45 Friday, with additional services beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Mountain View Old Order Mennonite Church, 274 Kaiser Run Road, Millmont, with the home ministry officiating.
Interment will be in Mountain View Old Order Mennonite Church Cemetery, Lewis Township.

Nolt, Titus Z., 90, of Myerstown, PA, passed away in his home on Thursday, February 7, 2019. He was the husband of Martha K. Buckwalter Nolt. He was born in West Earl Township, Lancaster County on October 19, 1928, a son of the late Rufus and Lizzie Zimmerman Nolt.
Titus was a retired farmer and excavator. He was a member of the Fairview Mennonite Church of Weaverland Conference.

Nyce, Samuel Moyer, 87, of Souderton, Montgomery Co., PA died August 21, 2019 at the same place. He was born February 10, 1932 at Sellersville, Bucks Co., PA to Linford and Margaret (Moyer) Nyce. On November 10, 1951 he was married to Gladys Moyer, who was born November 13, 1933 and survives.
Surviving are children, Barry Nyce; Bonita Janzen; Pamela Miller; and Cynthia Nyce; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Lucille Detweiler.
A son, Greg Nyce and two brothers, Kerry Nyce and John Nyce

Ober, Esther H. Hershey, 98, of Mount Joy, passed away on Monday, February 4, 2019 at her residence. Born in East Hempfield Township, she was the daughter of the late Clayton S. and Elizabeth (Huber) Hershey. Esther was the wife of the late Phares S. Ober who passed away on June 1, 2012.
Esther retired from Donegal Industries as a Sewing Machine Operator. She was a member of Mount Joy Mennonite Church. She enjoyed decorating, cooking and entertaining family and friends. Esther was known for keeping a neat home.
Esther is survived by two daughters, Lois, wife of Charles Hess of Marticville and Linda, wife of Marlin Myers of Manheim; two granddaughters, Tina (Shawn) Beam and Lori Hess; and her brother, Levi Hershey of Lancaster.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Keener; and three brothers, Clarence and John Hershey and an infant, Norman Hershey.
A Life Celebration service will be held at Mount Joy Mennonite Church, 320 Musser Road, Mount Joy on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 1 PM. A time of fellowship will follow the service. Interment to follow time of fellowship at East Petersburg Mennonite Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Sheetz Funeral Home, 16 E. Cynthia M. Oberholtzer, 60, of Myerstown, PA, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2019 in her home. She was the wife of Clinton J. Oberholtzer to whom she was married to in July 1980. She was born in Lebanon on December 10, 1958, a daughter of Alma Weaver Sweigart of Myerstown and the late Wilmer Sweigart.
Cynthia was a homemaker and helped with the family business, Oberholtzer Growers and Greenhouse. She was a member of the Harmony Christian Fellowship of Myerstown.

Oberholtzer, Glenn H., 88, of Mount Joy, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at the Mennonite Home, Lancaster. Born in Elizabethtown, he was the son of the late Christian and Bertha Haldeman Oberholtzer. Glenn was the loving husband of the late Helen Ober Oberholtzer who passed away in 2013. He was a 1949 graduate of Elizabethtown High School, worked as a carpenter for various builders, and enjoyed farming. In recent years, he worked at GIANT Food Stores, Mount Joy and the former JH Brubaker Lumber Company, Manheim. Glenn was a member of Mount Joy Mennonite Church. He enjoyed hunting at Scott's Mountain Camp in Cameron County.
Surviving are two daughters, Sue wife of Kevin Zurin of Mount Joy and Carol wife of David Martin of Elizabethtown, five grandchildren: Jill (Joel) Stout, Randy (Jennifer) Zurin, Kimberly (Frank) Splain, Lucretia Martin, Michael Martin, ten great-grandchildren: Justin, Jared, Aubrey, and Kristen Stout, Annabelle and Brooklyn Zurin, Collin, Mason, Gavin, and Jackson Splain. Oberholtzer, Ivan W., 89, of Millmont, entered into rest at 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 7, 1929, in Bareville, Lancaster County, a son of the late Harry L. and Anna (Weaver) Oberholtzer. On Dec. 25, 1952, in Bowmansville, he married the former Martha N. Leinbach who survives.
Ivan was a retired farmer.
He was a member of Mountain View Old Order Mennonite Church.

Oberholtzer, John Jacob, a retired farmer and former Upper Leacock Township supervisor, died Dec. 16, 2019 at Landis Homes after a brief illness. He was 97.
Oberholtzer, husband of the late Rebecca Stoner Oberholtzer, had farmed since he was a young man along Newport Road in Upper Leacock Township, milking 25 cows. He later became one of the first high-volume broiler farmers in Lancaster County, raising 60,000 at a time.
Oberholtzer chaired the Upper Leacock Township supervisors for 18 years. He also maintained township roads and plowed snow, retiring when he was 70.
He was a 1940 graduate of Upper Leacock High School and earned a degree from Lancaster Bible College. Oberholtzer joined Groffdale Mennonite Church when he was 14. He served in many capacities, including council chair, Sunday school superintendent and teacher, Bible school director, and mentor. He started the church bulletin.
Oberholtzer and his wife, Rebecca, married March 13, 1946. They drove to California on their honeymoon. The couple enjoyed entertaining at their farmhouse and hosting international guests of Mennonite Central Committee. Oberholtzer served on the boards of Tabor Community Services, Menno Housing and Camp Hebron in Dauphin County.
He was a long-time member of the Lancaster County Redevelopment Authority and the Lancaster County Housing Authority. He belonged to the Lancaster County Poultry Society and the Pennsylvania Young Farmers Association, serving as public relations director. Born in Stumptown, he was the son of the late Elmer and Alta Oberholtzer.
Surviving are two sons, David M. of Ronks, and Dr. J. Carl, spouse of William J. Freshwater of Still Pond, Maryland; two daughters, Ruth Ann, wife of David Buch, of Ocean City, New Jersey, and Beth M. Oberholtzer, wife of Jeff Hawkes, of Lancaster; eight grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sisters Esther Brubaker and Erla Culp.

John N. Oberholtzer, 93, of Richland, passed away in his home on Thursday, March 14, 2019. He was the husband of the late Esther Gingrich Weaver Oberholtzer. He was born March 3, 1926 in West Earl Township, Lancaster County, a son of the late Joseph Risser and Lizzie Musselman Nolt Oberholtzer. He was a retired farmer and Amish taxi driver. John was a member of Martin's Mennonite Church of the Weaverland Conference.
He is survived by children Ruth, wife of Raymond Hoover, Lititz; Anna, wife of Aaron M. Hoover, Ephrata; Ella, wife of the late David Hoover, Bethel; Mary, wife of Edwin Hoover, Womelsdorf; Edna, wife of Aaron H. Oberholtzer, Leon M., 61, of East Earl, died Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Lancaster General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in East Earl Township, he was the son of Adam and Ella (Martin) Oberholtzer of East Earl.
Leon was a member of Hinkletown Mennonite Church. He was a dairy farmer and also sold seeds for Northrup King. He had enjoyed competing in tractor pulls in several East Coast states.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two siblings: Edwin married to Lucy Oberholtzer, East Earl and Ella Mae married to Stanley J. Zimmerman, Lebanon, two nieces and three nephews.
His funeral will be held on Monday, August 19, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Hinkletown Mennonite Church, 2031 Division Hwy., Ephrata with Pastors Glenn Sauder, Daniel Showalter, and Jared Weaver officiating. Ortman, Arlan Wayne, 84, of Marion, SD died January 26, 2019 at Freeman, SD. He was born August 9, 1934 at Marion, SD to William J. and Anna (Goering) Ortman. On August 18, 1954 at Freeman, SD he was married to Ellen Marie Graber, who survives.

Funeral services for Rolland "Rollie" Oswald age 84 of Beemer, NE will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Beemer Mennonite Church with Pastor Lewis Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Beemer Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Beemer Mennonite Church and will continue from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Rollie passed away Thursday morning at his home on Canfield Street. He had lived with pancreatic cancer since February of 2019.
Rolland Oswald was born on a farm near Wisner, Ne. November 13, 1934 to Sam and Mary (Huebert) Oswald. He attended District 19 and other country schools for elementary school. He also attended Hesston High School in Hesston, Kansas for one year.
Rollie was baptized at Plum Creek Mennonite Church and was a faithful member of the church his entire life. He served as Sunday school teacher, Sunday School superintendent and elder. He also served with the children’s ministry and sang with the chorus and men’s quartet. He embraced the non-violent pacifist teachings of Jesus and served a term in 1W service in Denver, Colorado as an alternative to Military service. He volunteered with Mennonite Disaster Service. Rollie actively participated in the Nebraska Mennonite Central Committee relief sales. He enjoyed bidding in the auctions and working the pork stand joining in fellowship with others and contributing to world relief.
On July 15, 1956, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Eichelberger at Plum Creek Mennonite Church, rural Beemer. They started their life together in Denver, CO, living there for 2 years. While in Denver, they were blessed with the birth their first daughter Debbie. In 1958, the family of three returned to Nebraska to begin farming. They welcomed four more daughters over the course of the next ten years, Sandy, Diane, Claudia, and Beth. Later Rollie and Marilyn lost their only son, Richard, in childbirth.
Rollie and Marilyn farmed at various places in northern Cuming County. He enjoyed raising cattle, hogs, corn, soybeans, and hay. Springtime and harvest seasons brought him the most joy. They were blessed to purchase the Nellor place north of Beemer. They moved to Beemer in 2012. He continued to help with farming, working the harvest in the fall of 2018.
Rollie was passionate about farming, from planting and harvesting to gardening when they moved into town. He taught his five daughters how to drive International Harvester tractors and bale the hay. While Rollie never had sons, he had very special relationships with his daughters’ husbands, loving them as his own. Rollie loved making Christmas candy; his fudge was a family favorite. He enjoyed reading, woodworking, and spending time with his grandchildren.

On April 28, 1952 he married Susan Yoder; she died September 5, 1986. On March 28, 1996 in Shipshewana, he married Elsie Miller; she survives.

Owens, Charles E. "Chuck"
May 17, 1944 - January 23, 2019
Charles E. "Chuck" Owens, 74, of Middlebury, died at 2:50 am on Wednesday, January 23, at Goshen Health Hospital of complications from his three month battle with cancer. He was born on May 17, 1944 in Itawamba County, MS, to Carmie E. and Rebecca (Stewart) Owens. On June 10, 1972 in Elkhart County he married Mary Lois Bontrager, she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are a daughter, Julie (Robert) Roth of Shipshewana; a son, Geoffrey Owens of Goshen; three grandsons, Jonathan, Aaron and Evan Roth; two nephews, Gary (Regena) Owens of Fulton, MS and Darren (Melissa) Owens of Ripley, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nelda Owens.
Chuck graduated from Salem Central High School in Kenosha County WI and then received his Bachelors of Science degree at Delta State University in Cleveland MS. while studying at Delta State University he was drafted into the US Army where he served two years and then continued his education receiving his Master's degree from Mississippi State University, Starkville, MS. He was a teacher and coach at Pineville Elementary in Pass Christian, MS; he worked as a guidance counselor at Starkville High School in Starkville, MS and also had worked in the Human Resource Department for 26 1/2 years at Jayco in Middlebury. He was a 10 year volunteer as a Red Coat at Goshen Hospital where he served as president of the auxiliary board for two years. He served for nine years on the Greencroft Middlebury Board and was a member of the former Forks Mennonite Church where he served as an elder and as the chair for the church council. He volunteered for six different trips with Mennonite Disaster Services and was currently attending Pleasant View Church.
Visitation will be from 1:00 - 8:00 pm on Friday, February 1, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home at 9:00 AM on Saturday, February 2, to go in procession to a graveside service at Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Following the graveside service there will be an 11:00 am memorial service at Pleasant View Church, Goshen.
Services will be conducted by pastors Tyler Hartford and Ron Diener.
Memorials may be given to Goshen Hospital Auxiliary or Mennonite Disaster Services.
Peachey, Nannie T. Byler
October 3, 1959 - August 11, 2019
Nannie T. Peachey, 59, of Howe, died at 12:30 am on Sunday, August 11 at her residence. She was born on October 3, 1959 in Belleville, PA, to Andy and Annie Byler. On November 17, 1979 in Belleville, PA she married Leroy Peachey; he survives.
Survivors in addition to her husband are six daughters, Fannie (Alvin) Peachey, Mary Ann (Daniel) Peachey both of Allensville, PA, Thelma (Jacob) Swarey of Rockville, Rhoda (Joseph) Yoder of LaGrange, Esther (Samuel) Herschberger of Wolcottville, Barbara (Devon) Beachy of LaGrange; three sons, Melvin Peachey, Elmer (Bobbi) Peachey, Leroy Peachey, Jr. all of Howe; 24 grandchildren; two sisters, Elsie (John) Renno of Belleville, PA, Mary (Henry) Swarey of Loganton, PA; brother, Sam Byler of Rockville, PA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a stillborn son, and two grandchildren.
She enjoyed baking, gardening, camping and traveling. She especially loved to make potato chips. Nannie was a taxi driver for the Amish community.
Visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday, August 14 and one hour prior to the 10:00 am funeral service on Thursday, August 15 at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Pastor Gene Hartman. Burial will be in Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana. Memorials may be given to the funeral home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
Pellman, Betty N. Neff, 94, of Lititz, Lancaster Co., PA died December 23, 2019 at the same place.
She was born March 23, 1925 at Millersville, Lancaster Co., PA to Chester Herr and Anna Sensenig (Warfel) Neff. Chester was born January 8, 1893 and died March 12, 1968. Anna was born December 11, 1892 and died September 15, 1967.
On June 16, 1945 at Millersbille, PA she was married to Richard L. Pellman, who was born August 19, 1921 and died May 29, 2012.
Surviving are a daughter, Phyllis Pellman Good (Merle Good); and a son, Kenneth R. Pellman (Rachel Thomas); four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
A sister, Anna W. Neff preceded her in death.
Memorial services were held January 18, 2020 at Landis Homes, Lititz, PA with burial in Masonville Mennonite Church, Millersville, PA.
Penner, Winona Kaye Friesen, 78, of North Newton, Harvey Co., KS died May 11, 2019 at Newton, Harvey Co., KS. She was born October 22, 1940 at Sutton, NE to Fred and Tena (Janzen) Friesen. On September 10, 1961 at Henderson, NE she was married to Virgil Penner, who survives.
Surviving are children, Sondra (Tony) Otto, Tom (Paige) Penner; and four grandchildren.

Memorial services were held May 15, 2019 at Grace Hill Mennonite Church, Whitewatera, Harvey Co., KS with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Petersheim, Amos S., age 63, of Narvon, went HOME to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 14, 2019. He was the loving husband of Esther Lapp Petersheim with whom he celebrated 33 years of marriage on October 5th. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Amos and Lavina Stoltzfus Petersheim.
He was a member of Pequea Amish Mennonite Church. Amos loved the Lord and faithfully served him. He enjoyed spending time with his family and working alongside his sons in the family's construction business.
Surviving besides his wife are 7 children: Maria J. wife of Benjamin Beiler of Los Angeles, CA, Timothy L. husband of Deanne Stauffer Petersheim of Belize City, Belize, Rachel A. wife of Lynford Slabaugh of Nappanee, IN, Andrew J. husband of Marjorie Stoltzfus Petersheim of Gap, Joanna G., Christina F., and Joel E. Petersheim, all at home, 11 grandchildren, and 2 siblings: Sadie R. wife of Rueben Allgyer of Parkesburg and Stephen M. husband of Mary Riehl Petersheim of Narvon. He was preceded in death by 2 siblings: Elmer W. late husband of Sara Ann Bawell Petersheim of New Holland and Lydia Petersheim.
Funeral service will take place at Pequea Amish Mennonite Church, 115 Blank Road, Narvon, PA on Wednesday, April 17th at 1:30 PM. There will be a viewing on Tuesday from 1:30-4 and again from 6-8 p.m. Interment will be in the Pequea Amish Mennonite Cemetery.
Petersheim, LeRoy Kurtz
October 29, 1929 - September 2, 2019
LeRoy Kurtz Petersheim passed from this life early on Monday, September 2nd, 2019. One of 12 children, he was born in Morgantown to parents Barbara (Kurtz) and Jonathan Petersheim on October 29, 1929. He was a member, since 1989, of Forest Hills Mennonite Church.
LeRoy is survived by his brother Floyd Petersheim (Rebecca Stoltzfus) and his children: Beth Ann, married to Linford Good, Anna Ruth, married to Edward Gawlinski, as well as his six grandchildren: Rachel, Brendon, Alina, Colin, Gage and Tanner LeRoy. He was preceded in death by his siblings Mable, Della, Mary, Ida, Elsie, Susie, Omar, Elam, Joseph and Linda, and his loving wife Betty Lou (Wingard) Petersheim in 2004, and in 2018 by his son Jon Robert Petersheim (Susan Marie Parker). In recent years he was also blessed to be "PawPaw" to five beautiful grandchildren with his companion Grace Ebersole Leaman.
In 1946 LeRoy ventured alone as a Seagoing Cowboy on a cattle boat to Greece, bringing livestock and aid to that war-torn country. As the son of farmers, LeRoy worked the land on his family farm until he married in 1953. Never having completed high school, LeRoy graduated from Eastern Mennonite College (now Eastern Mennonite University) in 1960. He participated in graduate-level studies at Cornell and Penn State Universities during his time home from missionary service.
LeRoy, along with his wife Betty Lou, was a missionary in Kenya & Tanzania through the Eastern Mennonite Board of Missions, serving from 1960-1970. After returning home, LeRoy was the CEO at Tel Hai retirement community, during a time of rapid growth and change to the senior citizen community. He was also the Director of Marketing and Public Relations at Garden Spot Village in New Holland.
LeRoy loved the outdoors and nature. He was a member of the Buck Hollow Hunting Club in Clinton County, PA where he enjoyed immensely taking his grandchildren and creating fond memories of fun and family; his grandkids enjoy time there to this day. LeRoy was also an avid gardener. In his last years he enlisted the help of his grandsons to tend to his plot of roses at Landis Homes; roses he shared with many to spread joy and the beauty of God's creation to all.
A celebration of LeRoy's life will be held at 2:30 pm on October 5 Forest Hills Mennonite Church, 100 Quarry Road, Leola. Visitation will be from 1:00pm until time of service. Psolla, Robert Eugene, 85, of Bellefontaine, Logan Co., OH died october 24, 2019 at the same place. He was born March 30, 1934 at Canton, Stark Co., OH to Henry and Ann (Moran) Psolla. On April 5, 1997 he was married to Mary E. (Wolber) Steiner, who was born August 12, 1933 and survives.
Surviving are children, Sandra (Mike) Workman, Connie (Steve) Workman, JoDeane (Stuart) Workman and step-sons Dan (Cindy) Steiner, Doug (Ellen)Steiner, Jeff (Terri) Steiner, and Matt (Laura) Steiner; 9 grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, 6 step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Mary) Psolla, and sister, Doris (Dale) Arner.
His first wife, Peggy Miller, whom he married February 18, 1956, died April 17, 1993. One great-granddaughter is also deceased.
Memorial services were held October 29, 2019 at Bethel Mennonite Church, West Liberty, Logan Co., OH with burial in Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster, Wayne Co., OH.
